If you would like to arrange some school experience, please contact us. We can arrange placements for you in one of our 30+ partner primary schools. Dates can be flexible, as a placement doesn't have to be completed in one block, and programmes can be designed to suit an individuals needs and availability.

We also offer 'Teacher Taster Days', so you can get a quick insight into the profession and to help you decide whether to pursue a school experience programme.

Primary at Osmaston Primary School

- Meeting with Jeanette Hart (Teaching School Lead)

- Tour of the School

- Observe a range of lessons

- Meet with a newly or recently qualified teacher or trainee teacher

- Discussion with students

Secondary/QEGS – Susan Farr

- Meet with Susan Farr (Teaching School Director)

- Tour of the School

- Meet with Subject Specialist Leader

- Observe a range of lessons

- Meet with a newly qualified teacher or trainee teacher

- Discussion with students

WHAT WILL YOUR 10 DAY SCHOOL EXPERIENCE

PROGRAMME INVOLVE?

Primary

- Meeting with the Headteacher at assigned primary/infant/junior school

- Observation of a range of subjects with targeted observation tasks

- Assessment for learning Teaching & Learning , Behaviour Management, Subject Knowledge, Stretch & Challenge

- Assigned to a specific class for assembly

- Opportunities to support extra-curricular and any “catch up”

- Student voice opportunities

- Meet and reflect with RQT/NQT or Trainee Teacher

- Meet with staff who have responsibilities across a range of areas i.e. numeracy, literacy, PE, SENCO

 Secondary

- Meeting with Teaching School Director and Subject Leader

- Observations of chosen specialism with targeted observation tasks

- Shadowing a student for a day

- Assigned to two KS3 & KS4 tutor groups for each week

- Student voice opportunities

- Meeting with other department staff to engage in structured discussion and reflection

- Meet and reflect with RQT/NQT or trainee teacher

- Assessment for learning Teaching & Learning, Behaviour Management, Subject Knowledge, Stretch & Challenge
